PEREZ PRADO - GUAGLIONE (1958)

Someone reminded me of this song earlier by fifties mambo musician Perez Prado and I couldn't not put it on here. If you don't like this song there is probably something severely wrong with you. Listening to this could make the Iron Lady get loose.

BREAKING NEWS: SCIENTISTS DIRECTLY LINK BELIEVING ANY OLD BULLSHIT TO IGNORANCE

Leading scientists at the Global Institute for Mad Professors (GIMP) last night confirmed what theorists have believed for some time. It's official. Believing any old bullshit that you read in the press does have a direct link to ignorance.

Dr. Ivana Chatschitt, a spokesperson for the institute had this to say:

"We did numerous tests and came to numerous conclusions. We then did one solitary test and came to a single conclusion. I entirely trust our chosen methods because I read about them in a science journal."

Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and CEO of News Corporation was outraged, claiming that the "Global Institute for Mad Professors is entirely fictional." And added "What possible agenda could the media have for lying to people en masse? Anyone would think we live in a huge system of monetary hierarchy where keeping a majority of people poor and ignorant benefits those at the top. Well I'm tired of bloody conspiracy theorists"

The official GIMP report will be made available at the end of the month.

MUNICIPAL WASTE - THE ART OF PARTYING (2007)

It's nice, every now and again, to hear some thrash that doesn't sound like it's been recorded in someones garage with a single microphone. Although this album may be well recorded, it is in no way clean. Makes you want to move to america purely to gatecrash a frat party and trash the place while headbanging.

For fans of: Ancient stinking band tees, festering trainers and inhuman body odour.

MAXIMUM THE HORMONE - BUIIKIKAESU (2007)

WOW!

After hearing one song by this band I immediately began to download their whole discography. And if you check out the video below I hope you will understand why (and possibly begin to do the same). It sounds like System of a Down dry-fisting My Chemical Romance at a sweaty Japanese rave. The download below is their latest album and also their most accessible for loss of a better word.

Also check out their first album 'A.S.A. Crew' for some no holds barred funk-infused, in your face Japanese punk rawk!

<3 Think I've found my new favourite band. <3

BOW WOW WOW - C30 C60 C90 GO (1980)

The first punk song I ever heard when I raided my mums records at the age of about six. I remember being struck by how bizarre it sounded compared to my grandparents records. I still have this somewhere. I'll never get over this song!

I also don't feel in the slightest bit guilty about linking this song for download for obvious reasons.

GORILLA BISCUITS - SELF TITLED (1988)

Don't know much about this band as I've only recently discovered them. All I know is that they're a hardcore punk band from New York, they released this album in 1988 and they sound fucking good...Maybe I'll do some more research tomorrow.

CLOTAIRE 1ER - WE ARE BAD MOTHER FUCKERS (2011)

Parisian producer Clotaire 1er is responsible for some of the most refreshing breakcore I've heard for well over a year. Hands down.

Elements of drumstep, dark drum & bass and even psytrance are all shattered into sharp little breakcore fragments by manic rhythmical programming rendering this a truly well-needed kick up the arse to a once thriving scene.

DREAMSCAPE 6 - THE TRUE NEW WAREHOUSE CONCEPT (1993)

Okay, for those of you who never owned a dreamscape tape pack in the nineties this probably wont be the most exciting thing you've ever heard. But for those who did, hopefully these grainy recordings will fill you with the same joy they did me.

Not remastered at all. All those warped tape sounds just maintain that genuine nostalgic feeling.

The reason I chose to link this particular pack is because I think this is kind of where the hardcore sound peaked. Faster than previous years but not yet divided into jungle and the awful saccharin sounding happy hardcore we all know we have a massive secret soft spot for ;)

Anyway...Reach for the fucking lasers! Peace, Love, Unity and Respect!!

VA - ZIC DE ZINC VOLUME 1 (2CD)

Definitely not everyones tasse de thé (but then I guess that's what this blog is about) Zic De Zinc (pronounced zih deh zonc) is an eclectic compilation of French popular music.

Expect to hear accordions and violins galore. At times it's like being transported to a beautiful  market on a sunny day. At others, like an insight into the wine drenched sorrows of a struggling Parisian artist or some other horrendous streotype (just bear with me I've never reviewed stuff before okay?)

NEKROGOBLIKON - GOBLIN ISLAND (2006)

First of all, Nekrogoblikon is way, way up there with my favourite band names of all time. They could sound like horseshit and I'd still love them. Thankfully that's not the case with this highly original Californian 'goblin metal' band. They sound like Alestorm with ergotism!

FUCK ON THE BEACH - FASTCORE ON THE BEACH (1998)

The following EP is by a 'fastcore' band called Fuck on the Beach who I discovered when I bought a reduced 7" called Thrash Ahoy at random in the punk section of Modros Music in Truro about 7 years ago.

This EP is 13 tracks long and only weighs in at just over 6 minutes long so I think you know what to expect. If not then just don't expect whale music from this hardcore Japanese outfit. (Insert predictable inappropriate joke here)

BRUISE VIOLET - LIVE UP YOUR YOUTH (DIY RELEASE)

Right, first post. I'll make it short because I don't want this to be the kind of blog where I endlessly drone on about myself. I can save that for the weekends.

Basically I've created this as a space where I can share the weird and wonderful music I find while obsessively trawling round the interwebs.

Today has been all about punk. Mostly the American all girl kind. So it only seems appropriate to start with this gem from the now sadly split Los Angeles based punk band Bruise Violet.
